If you are looking for the perfect fall show, look no further! Grab your favorite drink, a cozy seat, and prepare to watch the cutest show ever created.
“Over the Garden Wall” is a short kids show which premiered Nov. 3, 2014 on Cartoon Network, featuring 11 episodes each a little over 10 minutes.
The show is set in a forest with small towns and cottages, and is set in what seems to be the season of autumn, matching the ideal viewer experience.
For people in the high school age range, shows that came out during the early 2010s can be very nostalgic. Whether or not you have seen the show, odds are you might have seen other similar shows from that time period. During this time, Cartoon Network aired a large number of popular kids shows that bear some resemblance to “Over the Garden Wall” in one way or another; main examples of this being “Gravity Falls” and “Adventure Time.”
The short show provides a shockingly in-depth story with a large, overarching plot that progresses each episode, which also carry their own individual subplot. Because of the way the episodes are formatted (furthering both the overarching story and subplot), not one episode leaves the viewer bored or wanting for more.
Some of the fan favorite things about “Over the Garden Wall” are the warm color scheme, character design, music, and fall themes. Senior at Tech High Jack Omholt stated that they “really liked the character design” and “enjoyed the music and animation style, it really fit the cozy atmosphere.” The show focuses on a lot of greens, oranges, and browns which are perfect for the fall season, matching the changing colors of the leaves on trees. The music makes use of the violin, piano, and vocals which culminate into one of the best soundtracks of all time, especially for a children’s show.
I have personally seen the show over a dozen times and could easily see it a dozen more. “Over the Garden Wall” is the perfect show for the fall season and I firmly believe it deserves an honest viewing by all.
