In America, football is one of the most important sports and is well liked by most citizens. But what if you wanted to be the manager of a football team? With this precise thought, a new way to play football was created.
Fantasy football is a form of football that allows you to be in control and manage your very own teams. Essentially, you choose a team of real football players, and based on their performance, you receive a certain amount of points. Whoever has the most points at the end of each match wins.
Most commonly you will manage a team of around ten players which you can trade out through the seasons, and you get to select a new team each year. You can put these players on your team by either just picking them or spending fictional “money” to auction for them.
Mr. Matthew Valci, a teacher at Tech High and a participant in fantasy football, shared some of his thoughts and opinions on fantasy football. Mr. Valci stated “I see it as a way to connect with my students while also enjoying the sport.”
Because of the nature of the game, people who may not have met or talked before can be on the same team. This is great for bonding and meeting new people.
Four teachers, including Mr. Valci, and multiple students are currently playing fantasy football, though that number may very well grow as time goes on. In the near future, there is hope of forming a fantasy football club, making it more available for all to play.
Fantasy football is yet another way to enjoy football. It is a fun way to bond with other people here at this school, and it is also very open for staff and students to join if they are interested.
