Stephen Wardell Curry will be the first ever NBA player to hit 4,000 career three pointers in this upcoming 2024-2025 season on the Golden State Warriors team. Curry will enter the season with 3,747 three pointers and needs only 253 moreaking about four or more three pointers per game, he will be able to achieve this great milestone on roughly Feb. 13 against the Dallas Mavericks.
This is a big achievement, with not even one person in the NBA crossing 3,000 three pointers. These are not the only accomplishments he has achieved in his career, Curry is a two time NBA scoring champion, ten time NBA All-Star, four time NBA champion, Olympic basketball gold medalist, two time NBA Most Valuable Player, and a one time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.
Growing up, Curry states that he did not get major college recognition because of his height, and not being seen as athletic or strong enough. He later decided to attend a small private college near his home. This college was Davidson College. At the time, Curry was not happy, knowing that the best colleges to attend for a better career in basketball were Duke or Virginia Tech.
In 2023, Curry was interviewed on a show called ¨Hot Ones.¨ In this interview, Curry was asked where he would be today if he went to a bigger college instead of Davidson. He stated, ¨The only reason that I´m this successful is because I got to learn reps. So having gone to Tech or Duke, maybe I would ride the bench my freshman year and I don’t get that experience, I don’t know that I´d be the same player.¨
Today, Curry has impacted the NBA and the way basketball is played significantly. Before the “Curry” effect, nobody really shot three pointers. They were considered difficult shots to make so not many people tried to make them. Now you see many younger kids and teenagers trying to shoot shots from the three point line or even half court. This is referred to as the Stephen Curry Effect.
Curry shows that no matter your size or the challenges you face, if you keep on pushing and putting in the effort, you can become successful. Today, Curry is known as one of the best basketball players to ever play on the court and the greatest point guard ever to exist.
