A$AP Rocky, an influential artist in the hip-hop industry, delayed his album “DON’T BE DUMB” due to sample clearances, but it has got people wondering if it’s going to be worth the wait. This album has been in the works since 2018, almost seven years now, but Rocky himself says, “I want to make the best album ever. I’m sorry for the wait.”
The original release date was also going to be lined up with Destroy Lonely’s album that came out Aug. 30, 2024. This made hip-hop fans of both artists ecstatic for the release only for it to have never happened. Thankfully, he has heard the outcries of the fans and has been releasing some singles like “Taylor Swif” and “Ruby Rosary” in order to keep people hyped.
Both were received very well by his fans showing love for the “Taylor Swif” video and its unique and funny moments. “Ruby Rosary” on the other hand was very loved due to a special appearance from J. Cole. He is considered one of the best in his generation and very respected by the hip-hop community.
Aaron Burg, a junior at Tech High, is a passionate fan of A$AP Rocky. He has been waiting for this album to get released for a while, as he said, “Oh boy oh boy, where do I begin? I have been a fan of Mayers (Rocky) since seventh grade, and his confident, secure mindset has inspired me to strive to be a better person.”
Anyone who hasn’t listened to his work doesn’t know what is so good about it and Burg explains it perfectly. “His music furthers his personality and motivates me to follow my passions. His music is also nothing to sneeze at; each album tops the last, and his smooth, tight flows are hard to come by in the modern rap game.” This can be very true since a lot of rap can be just harsh words that barely rhyme.
Though going slowly, the creation of the album is still progressing. It is possible that the new album could put A$AP Rocky above J. Cole in popularity. The album’s release will greatly impact the rap community and spark all kinds of hype.
