When asked about their favorite part of Technology High School, many students have historically responded with the campus culture. Here at Tech High, we are comprised of a small student base with less than four hundred people. As a result of our small student population, Tech High’s campus culture has developed to be quite caring and respectful.
That being said, there are still instances where those who take part in our campus culture fail to meet the standards the rest achieve.
Every day, students line up to receive food from the cafeteria, both at break and at lunch. There is an incessant issue with students cutting the line in order to receive their food faster. This is an area where students fail to meet the standards of Tech High’s campus culture.
Quite often, parents occupy the student parking lot, both in the morning and after school for drop off and pick up. While it is understandable to want to either avoid the pick up and drop off loop or try to spend an extra few minutes with your child, doing this creates a lack of available parking spots and traffic blockages.
Attendance at Tech High is mandatory to graduate, however just because you are ‘forced’ to be at school, does not mean that you are entitled to making messes and disturbing teachers’ professional spaces. Students should keep in mind the professional relationship they have with staff at Tech High, be respectful, and honor the time they put into the school to keep it functioning.
On top of the issue of making messes, students often steal from teachers’ rooms. Be it on purpose or by accident, it’s not okay to take from a teacher’s supplies and keep them for yourself. Most teachers are only allocated a small amount of funding for classroom supplies and taking away from those is not what Tech High’s standards look like.
A recurring issue at Technology High School has been with the bike rack behind the B-Wing. Students often leave their bikes outside or in the very front of the rack, making it difficult for other students to get through the space.
Technology High School is a place for students to feel welcome and comfortable. Our small, tight-knit community needs to work together to maintain our campus and hold each other to the Tech High standard.
