“One Piece” is the largest anime and manga in the world, so it naturally has a very large fanbase. Because of this, people have formed opinions, favorites, and theories within the community. And with the story entering its final stages, the community is making its own changes.
Thanks to how many people started to watch anime and read manga, primarily because of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “One Piece” has been getting more and more fans. Fans coming from “Jujutsu Kaisen” would continue to act as they did in that community, which led to the introduction of agendas.
Agendas are essentially just people pushing their own opinions, usually involving a character. With the introduction of more content creators like Jay. D. Legend and King of Lightning who mainly produce videos to spread their agendas, more and more people are following suit and vocalizing their own opinions.
This usually determines how the community receives new episodes or chapters, and especially how their favorite characters are dealt with in those chapters. In certain cases, characters have been slandered to the point that their fan bases have almost died out. In others, fans of characters make blatantly wrong claims in order to support their agenda.
Because of this vocalization, people in the community have begun to go at odds with each other. For the most part it isn’t serious, but the more people in the community, the more aggressive it gets.
The anime, due to being easier to access and the main way people view the show, is more popular and has been adapting the manga for the past year. There are still some complaints about animation, sound effects, and voice acting, and to fix those the anime team is going on a six month long break.
Their efforts to improve the adaptation are definitely paying off though. John Arguelles, someone caught up with the “One Piece” anime said “[There’s] good character development, and the animation has gotten crazy compared to when it first started.”
Going back to the manga, chapters have begun to be leaked ahead of their release schedule. This would not be a major issue if most of the information being leaked wasn’t incredibly vague or flat out wrong. This has been awful, because the pushing of agendas can lead to the slandering of chapters before they even come out.
With the introduction of agendas and chapter leaks, the community has become very divisive and often changes every chapter or episode. Despite this, the community is at an all time high in terms of numbers and interactions between fans. With everything going on in the series, the community is sure to go through plenty more changes, both positive and negative.
